Digital
Subscriber Line (ADSL)
DSL is a new technology that allows
high speed connections to the Internet over copper telephone wires.
The ADSL modem splits one phone line into two so that various
communication systems such as telephone, fax, or video can be
operated at the same time while still giving continuous Internet.
ADSL offers users a choice of speed ranging from 256Kbps up to 2MB,
this is 64 times faster than standard 56Kbps dial-up modem.
Broadband DSL Service
The vast majority of Internet users use dial-up modems to access the
Internet through their ISPs or the free Internet numbers. As a
result of the capacity constraints inherent in using analog modem
technology over copper wires, 56 Kilobits per second is the maximum
capacity available today for most residential customers.
New technologies, such as digital subscriber line (DSL) systems,
promise a quantum leap in bandwidth: up to 8 megabits per second
(Mbps). The technology also offer an added advantage being always
"on" for no extra charge. Users do not need to physically dial into
an ISP to access the internet. soficom offers broadband connectivity
circuits with bandwidth capacity (speed) ranging from 256 Kbps to 2
Mbps and its multiples.
Whos got the fastest service? What equipment do you need? Is it
available in your area? The choices are many and, quite often,
confusing. One thing you can be sure of, soficom DSL is the most
practical technology for the future. It uses sophisticated digital
coding to utilize more of the existing space on the wire, without
interfering with your normal phone conversations. And, its fast...
Really fast.
